2003 Explorer Sport XLT
I have an 03 explorer sport 2 door XLT with the optional 4X4. I am looking to put new brakes on it because I do not know when the brake pads were changed, as I just got it a month ago. Anyways, I have done most of the standard stuff, converted to synthetic oil, changed the tranny fluid and filter, got new tires. The last thing I want to do before the winter is check the rotors and new brake pads. I thought I read some place on here that the rear brakes are pads and not disc brakes on the 03 sports. Could someone let me know if that is true? I have not had time due to work to get in and look at this or to get to the auto part store and find out. I am looking to order some online and get them by next week so I can spend one morning replacing them.

Any help would be great.

Thanks,
Sean

look at the rear wheel, if you see the caliper like in the front wheel, it's disc brakes,
if there's no caliper then it's drum brakes

I have an '01, so can't tell for sure

Do you have a Sport (2 door) or Sport Trac (4 door truck)?

This section of the website is for the Sport Tracs.
