Hey Everyone. I'm writing this just incase anyone else has this issue. Yesterday I was driving my 97 EX 4.0 2wd and the brakes starter to fell soft/spongy. Usually I touch them a bit and they react. Throughout the day they got worse to the point where I had the pedal to the floor and it would very slowly come to a stop.
I was reading around the forums and I got a lot of talk about the ABS needing bleeding and a special tool being needed. This scarred me because I would have to take it to someone to do this and that costs lots of money. I also read some people talking about the brake master cylinder going bad. Because the BMC wasn't very expensive I decided to try this first. I changed it out with a new one, replaced all my old brake fluid with new and bled everything. Cost me $50 and 2 hrs of my Sunday and it automatically fixed the problem. Brakes are good as new.
