I have a '99, 2-wheel drive, XLS, with a 3" spindle lift and 32 x 10.50 BFG A/T. I would appreciate any responses on how often drivers of similiar vehicles get their brake pads replaced. Maybe I am experiencing the norm for vehicles with bigger tires, but I am in desperate need of some reassurance!
(Just your average driver, no off-roading, etc.)

Thanks

My first question would be how many miles between pad replacement? I've got 16k on my 96 sport 4x4 at least. Second do you coast to a light that you expect to change red or already is? Do you tailgate to the point that you need to apply brake to adjust your speed to the person your following or do you keep your distance and simply lift your foot from the gas to adjust? I know some of things aren't always possible but making the effort can save your brakes and keep your X scratchless.:)

I have a first gen and I just replaced all my pads (last change was Feb of '03) and they all still had significant pad on them. My advice would be not to buy the cheap stuff. Or get those "Lifetime guarenteed" brakes if youre gonna be chaning them so often, might as well save some money.

when my explorer ran, i had 31s on it... and i went through brake pads every 10k miles... im very hard on brakes... if you drive hard, everything will wear out way faster than it should... city driving is hell on brakes...
