yesterday my car started to make a grinding noise from the left front area. i first thought it could be the suspension but the last time i went off roading was a week ago. So then i asked my friend and he said that some screws holding the plates could have gone through. Well i continued to drive and i got sooo pissed becasue when i hit the breaks the car would shake and make this loud grinding noise that i started to hit them really really hard and then i heard a snap and my car wouldnt stop. I then hit the E breaks and it came to a stop, and then started to pump the break. After that they started to work but whenever i hit the breaks the E break light would go off. So i figure im now using the back break right? So i figure all i need are some new front breaks, is there anything else im missing? also around how much would it be to fix it? thanks!

o yeah also around 0-35 mph i hear a whirling noise or something from the front end too even after i heard the front breaks snap.

#1 - Check your brake fluid level and make sure you didn't pop a line. Noise is probably bad pads, or a very warped rotor.

Maybe you should call a tow and take it to a shop.. I doubt it's very safe to use only your back brakes, and I'm sure it's not safe to use your e-brake for all braking... if you get in an accident and this comes up you could get royally screwed.

Bummer,...have you pulled the wheel?

I had pads come apart once and the noise you describe sounds very similar. If you haven't already pulled the wheel, maybe you can see enough through the wheel slots to tell if anything is missing or floating around.

yeah its not the break fluid so i took it to a shop and they said that all 4 of my breaks are screwed and i also need new calipers so its gonna take a few days to get fixed and about $500, but its strange cuz they said that the breaks were bad for quite some time, but i never had any problems
