My 2003 Explorer has been getting stuck in Park intermittently. Most of the time I can shift after a few tries. I have read the numerous threads about shift interlock and the brake switch problems. In checking out the issue, I noticed a broken plug near the brake pedal and I believe this is the root of the problem. Is this a plug I can simply replace, or is this a harness for another part that needs replacing? I am a little confused since I have read about a brake light switch, a Shift Interlock Solenoid, and a BSI? I'm not sure if they are all the same thing. All the fuses are ok. I know its something to do with the interlock since they brake lights won't work when the shifter is stuck. Like I stated, it works intermittently, so it doesn't seem like a motor failed, I just think its a bad connection. Thanks for any help you can give me.
