The thin black plastic hoses to the rear of the engine, dont know exact name, snapped to pieces when I gently moved one of the hoses... now my problem is I have no idea how to find the forementioned hoses, I dont have a name for them so it makes finding them rather difficult. If it helps one of the hoses runs to what looks like a small connection with cotton gauze or the like... Appreciate any help.

That plastic gets brittle with age. When I've broken those, I just get some vacuum hose with the right id and use that. There's nothing "magical" about the plastic stuff, it's just there to "conduct" "vacuum".

Would you happen to know where to get the hoses or just what the name or id numbers on yours, I cant even find a name in my haynes manuel... all I know is that it is a tri split hose and one of the plastic hoses travels to the "octopus" on the intake manifold. Each hose is cracked and broken, coming off the tri split that has some sort of gauze on it. Im just havin a hellofa time trying to find these hoses or comprable....

The only hoses I know of back there run from the throttlr body to the PCV valve, don't know if that helps or not

I know they are hard to find. I finally found the small plastic line and the rubber fittings at Pep Boys. In fact I just had to replace the little rubber connection that goes on it a few days ago.

No numbers. I can't remember if the hose is 3/8" id or 1/4" -- I would just take that "tri-split" (If it's the part I'm thinking of, it's actually a one way valve for the HVAC system) into the parts store and tell them you need some vacuum hose to fit it. Figure out how many feet you need and they should cut off that many feet for you.

Alright... I went to autozone with the 3 way connector and they were stumped too.... but they did give me 2 pieces of foot long rubber connecting hose, which I used to join the broken lines. Now the hissing is gone, there is some new accelleration and it even shifts better now. So thank you guys for all your help.
