Well yeah they are usually called cow catchers in smaller towns...
I call it a light bar... Its stricktly for looks... I had the westin version on my X.. And it didn't hold up for crap.... I knew it wouldn't when I put it on but it also severly hurt my approach angle for wheeling too... Now its gone...
I thought they were called bull bars too.... Oh well.
Just my personal opinion, I wouldn't put one of these on a 4x4. If you have to put something on a 4x4, go for a whole brush guard that can actually do something. These are just for looks on the street.
I no longer drive an Explorer but I still surf this site cause I love the X's. If you are looking for something tough and rugged, give the guys at www.ranchhand.com a call. I love the look of these bumpers and they are built damn tough!
Originally posted by Cdexplorer I'm not one to put off-road stuff on a street truck to begin with. I do have a street truck though...anybody have any pics of nice ones on their x?
I'm not talking about the Safari bar, I'm looking for one with the verticle bars on the bottom part
I hate the SUV owners that have grill guards on their trucks when they have no need for one. Those things cause serious injuries when they hit pedestrians.
Hmmmm...I'm thinking there will be injuries regardless. If you make a habit of hitting pedistrians, GET THE BRUSH GUARD to protect your headlights from any flying arms, legs, etc.

Those bars do way more damage to the organs than a stock bumper. How would you feel if you or your children got hit by a truck with them on? It could mean life or death. I didn't realize that you guys are so cold-hearted
don't step/or pull out in front of a moving anything and there is no reason to worry. teach and watch your kids ! stuff happens but that's like saying guns are bad, no, if not handled safely etc... it's the dummy's behind the gun
