My husband and I ditched the Navajo into a serious mudbath. After having it sucked out of the mud, the 4X4 light on the dash fails to illuminate when depressed and we can't get the 4X4 to engage. Any ideas, suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Welcome to the board. Could be a number of problems. Do you hear the relay clicking in the rear when you try putting it in 4x4? If no, that could be the problem. If yes, then it is probably the T/F case. Are all the connections still attached to the case?? something may have been pulled off when you got pulled out of the mud. Read about the t/f case on the site below. Lots of great diagnostic and repair info. Dead Link Removed

Good Luck!

Thanks Vmuch for the reply. You were right. It turned out to be a burned out shift motor. Our next truck will have a manual 4x4 shift if we can get it set up that way. Heading out to the mud and snow! Yahoo!
