I've seen it on some trucks outside this site, but i believe they were all SAS'd.

Thats what I needed to know. I saw a few guys that had v8's and used one though. Guessing they used some sort of an adapter.
Its a 4406 - not a 1354 and no adapter required, its a straight up bolt on (as far as mating it to the trans)

Indeed, the 13-54 won't bolt up to a V-8.

alright, just wanted to make sure before I bought anything. But I got a new question for ya!! I may be able to get my hands on a eletric shift bw4406. Is it possible to convert it to a man.? I could wire it up that's not the prob, I just hear it dosnt clear the gas tank on the 4 door V8's. Apperently you have to put the smaller tank from a 2 door to fit it in there. Any truth to that?

You can do some wiring to make it controllable via a switch like in the v6 models but it takes some parts and some work. Aaron's rig was a 97 so it has no PATS, yours has PATS so its gonna take a trip to the dealer or disabling PATS via a tune for it to work with the different GEM

- GEM
- Bezel with switches
- Torque On Demand Relay
- Shift Relay
- T-case harness
- Wiring harness pins and plugs: StadX2 needed the wiring conntectors, which my local dealer gave me for free (They rock). However, my truck was 100% pre-wired, and they were not needed. This highlights the difference in wiring between my 97 and his 98, and why paying attention to "year ranges" is so important!

You can pull the shift motor off and manually turn it from under the rig each time but to make it a true selectable that you can change while in the cab is not gonna work. Best thing to do bang for the buck is to get a manual 4406 and do the swap. Besides the torque on demand clutch aren't the greatest thing.

I hear ya that it would be easier to do a manual shift. The only thing is, they seem to be a much more rare find than the electric shift.

Yeah, it seems like more work than its worth, a manual shift is the way to go. Plus I'd rather not loose the pats immobilizer. Just cant seem to find any manual shifts at junk yards around here. I've been going to 3 different Crazy Rays around me for a few weeks now and havnt found anything. Patience is a Virtue though so I'll keep at it. I really appreciate the help from everyone, dont know where'd I be without this site!
