Sadly my friends, I just couldn't take the chain racket and the leaking front diff (3rd time ) and I got rid of the ol' gal. She had 173K when I finally got rid of her and while it was bitter sweet, it does feel nice to not have to worry about the next problem.
I decided that in this stage of my life, I need something more practical, reliable and even more professional. So I ended up buying a 2009 Toyota Prius with a rainbow sticker, a peace sign, a couple of "change" bumper stickers, and a picture with me hugging a tree. That hug was truly a tender moment.

OK so I lied, but I did sell my sploder. Instead of the Toileta, I actually picked up a 99 Limited X with the 5.0. Now that I have the V8, I am never looking back!!!! That thing has so much low end torque, I couldn't believe it having always had 4 bangers and V6s. I am definitely proud to join the 5.0 club!!!! :salute:
It has 172K and I swear everything still runs and looks brand new. I'll post some pics later on, but even the paint is perfect. Either I got a lemon with my other one or these 5.0s are practically impervious.

I have a 98 5.0 w/ 152K and its a damn fine engine. I actually like it more then the 4.6L in my 03.

Welcome to the 5.0 club. These things do seem pretty stout and reliable

ive got a 98 5.0 with 242K miles and i dog it everywhere. Still runs like a champ and have had no major surgery. Time to mod it up lol check out my mod list and vids and such and see if u like em lol.

welcome to the 5.0 club lol

Thanks everybody, I'm detailing it right now (forgot how good that feels) so I should be able to get some pics of it pretty soon. It is definitely going to take some getting used to. I'm thinking some headers might need, yes NEED, to be ordered after reading all the positive comments about them. I am a little worried that this rig may not be quite the off-roader as my old one, I'd just hate to beat up a beautiful limited. Ah well, time to make it faster at least! :D
Are there any problems that you guys have encountered with the 5.0 or tranny?? It does have 172 on it and everything is practically original except idle pulley, serpentine, battery and spark plugs. Now that's impressive, I just hope that it holds up.
New tires and balljoints are in the forecast before the headers.

Welcome to the 5.0 :)

Granted i havnt driven mine since I got it (wasnt road worthy) but soon will be. Bring it Michigan winter!

This Ex was my dads then my grandpas and now mine. Both of them love talking about the power, reliability, and tank-like ability in the snow.

Welcome to the 5.0 club. :salute: My '97 has had no major issues with either the engine or tranny after 305k km (I'm :can:). Change the oil every 5k, tranny fluid once a year and those parts are good-to-go!

On the other hand, everything else has been less reliable: serpentine belt, idler, coolant hoses, shocks, ball joints, wheel hubs, interior door handles, power antenna, brake pads once a year, and now temperature control module. :thumbdwn:

Good luck!

I second this. So far I've replaced the driver side CV axle and hub, and the u joints need to be replaced next. Previous owner who only owned it for a year had to replace water pump, alternator, and plugs/wires. I also seem to have a coolant leak somewhere, and the power antenna is a piece of crap.

Oh yeah, good points... I second the water pump, alternator, plugs/wires, and front drive shaft.
