The temperature in my 98 Explorer is difficult to control.

The heat does really work until it's set at 80. And then it'll roast you out of the cabin.

I'm thinking maybe that the cabin air temp sensor could be dirty or something ???

Dunno..... I'm hoping not.:(

What are the symptoms of the blend door actuator being bad ??

With your ATC, at this point, it could be either the temp sensor or the blend door (although the odds are in the blend doors favor).

Try pulling the cover off over the temp sensor (just to the right of the radio bezel), and cleaning the sensor with a q-tip and rubbing alcohol.

See if that helps. If not, it is probably your blend door. Does it ever stick in HEAT when you have in a normal cooling temp like 70 or 72?
