I have an 03 limited, and I want to mount a "safety hammer" on the driver's side of the middle console. It would essentially be right next to the driver's leg, within easy reach. My question is, can I drill mounting holes do to so? Is there electrical wiring or anything else that would be hit, with the drill bit going in?

Appreciate any help/advice you can give. Thanks!

Well you could take the cover of the console off and look. The wires are there, but you could hold them out of the way to drill.

How do I go about taking the cover off? I looked for some seams that seemed to be break points, but couldnt find anything that would come apart.

That seems to deal more with the dashboard than the center console. My question is about the console running in-between the two front seats (includes arm rests, cup holders... etc...) The mounting would be on the side of the console, on the plastic, "facing" the driver's side door.

SCROLL DOWN.

There is a picture how it is assembled.

Aha. Thank you. Didnt get down that far the first time. According to that diagram, taking out the middle piece should give me enough of a view of anything down there that I need to avoid. Thanks for the advice and the link! I appreciate the help.

No problem.
