I recently bought a nice 96 xlt 5.0 rwd X with towing package. Sometimes I wish I had a pickup but I need interior space of the X.

Wouldn't it be cool to have a matching trailer made out of a ranger truck bed? Has any one done this? Is it reasonable for a shade tree mech to do? My best friend owns a weld shop, so as long as I don't pester him too much, I can use his shop.

I realize that it would be limited to having only one axle but a heavy duty one. Are there any handeling geometry issues? I don't wand to contribute to any roll-over statics.

I enjoyed checking out the bronco but I just want a trailer that matches the suv. The X i have is in great shape though I would be extreemly trick to have the only 95 sport track suv/pickup. Im not quite that much of a sheet metal fab guy. Now you got me thinking about that.

An explorer crashed from the back and a ranger crashed from the front welded together sounds a lot like work.

I was thinking more of a ranger bed on some kind of frame work with a trailer toung and matching paint and rims.

I saw a Ranger pickup bed trailer on Craigslist about a year ago, but didn't buy it cause:

1) it was only a 6 foot bed and 2) the price seemed too high.

Kinda wish I had bought it now, though. It was the same color (white) as my Explorer.

Theres a lot of people who have made trailers from truck beds, the only thing with the ranger bed is it is not the biggest but would still be pretty cool to see.
