can i paint/change the color of my q-logic stealth box?

im not sure if this is the right forum for this, so if it needs to be moved can a moderator please move it?

UPS just delivered my q-logic stealth box about 5 minutes ago, but sounddomain sent me the wrong damn color! i told them "tan", and what do i get?..."black." so is there anyway i can change the color? theres gotta be some sort of interior paint or dye or something i can get to spray it with. i dont wanna just use regular spray paint.

any help is appreciated.

Go to autozone they have this awesome interior paint that works really well,I have used there paint lots of times on my ex.

I used it to paint my door panels,it is really easy to apply it is hard to run this kind of paint.

Black Magic recommended using Dupont vinyl dye to paint my Q-logic box. He said it worked great on his.

cool, thanks! i know he painted his, and i sent him a PM about it, but he didnt reply yet, i guess hes been busy lately.

where do you get that stuff though? i guess ill try the usuals: pep boys, home depot, small local hardware stores...

I doubt you'll find it in those stores. You probably will find it at an automotive paint supply store that carries Dupont paints.

did you get part# QL C1EXP110 ?...that's the one I ordered and there is a small *asterik next to the part number,(on Q-logics site) and the associated note reads only available in black.....I'm wondering if you ordered a different model with a choice of colors.....

the part # on mine is QL-C1EXP110A01. i didnt look on q-logics web site, but when i called sounddomain to order it, they asked me what color, so i said tan if possible, and they said ok. maybe the guy i placed the order with was confused and it does only come in black im sure i can make it tan though, i know that others have done it; its just a matter of hunting down the right product to do it now, heh.

Sorry, I was not arround today. If you go to any auto place that sells real auto paint they can order it for you. I was lucky to find a place not too far from where I work that had the right color already in a rattle can. They can make it for you if they don't have it ready. Also it's great to have the dye arround for anthing else you need. I took me my GameBoy Advance apart and sprayed it the same color as my interior, looks kinda cool. I am thinking about spraying my PS2 with it too.

These people sell all kinds of colors of penetrating vinyl dye... along with lots of other cool stuff. Look for the product called VHT. If you need to stop rust anywhere on your truck, look for the product called POR-15.

well, the paint guy screwed me. i called him this morning and he said, "yeah, we can help you out with that", then i get there, and he says he doesnt know what im talking about, and that what im asking about isnt possible. he said unless i get the stuff at pep boys (which doesnt really match my interior), i could get the stuff i need by the pint, and find a shop to shoot my stealth box with a paint gun.

so now i really need help. if theres anyone who knows of anyway i can get this stuff, or if someone who lives near a place that can get it wants to help me out, id be happy to pay you for your time (and, of course, the can of dye), let me know. otherwise, ill have to install it black the way it is.
