even if it were possible (its not) you wouldnt want to. the A4LD you have has a tough enough time holding up to a stock V6. i would imagine a mild 5 liter would turn it into shavings.
why, ive been lookin forever for a 5.0 tranny. but i just found one . friend of mind just told me he would sell me one for 50.00 bucks. i drove the car like 15 mins ago and it felt fine. I have a motor from a guy that i bought for 75.00$ and that i have been insured runs fine. he just blew his tranny and had no need for this engine cuz he bought new engine and tranny... so far into the 5.0 swap i have $125.00.. YEA ohh and by the way i am deff. runnin carb. cheaper and easier.
is the tranny he sold you a od tranny?(AOD) OR A 3 speed (c4). If its an AOD i would put a nice lentech manual valve body in it. or a good shift kit. The AOD is probably the worst tranny to ever come in a ford vehicle stock. I went through 2 in my 93 5.0 before i did a manual conversion. You can build them up and they will be bulletproof though. Just giving you a little info if its the AOD. Some last a while and some will **** out on you fast.
the only one i have on my computer right now. It has a shaved antenna, shaved decklid emblems, smoked taillights (not covers) and clear fronts. The 5.0 emblem was also replaced with a 302 emblem.
93 Lx 5.0:Edlebrock Performer upper and lower intake, Edlebrock Performer heads, BBK shorty headers, msd 6al ignition, msd timing control, pro m 73mm MAS caled for 24lb injecters, 24lb injecters, bbk 70mm throttlebody and egr spacer, k&n filtercharger, msd 8mm wires, accell ignition coil, ford motorsports aluminum drive shaft, 4:10 rear end, flowmaster 40 series mufflers, AOD to T5 swap. black interior with oxford white paint.
that would be like putting bike tires on your X, would never work, even if i did it would be for a short time. the 4.0 tranny wasn't designed for a 5.0 engine.
I wonder if the 5 speed Automatic in the new 2001-2004 Explorer Sports would bolt on and hold up. Thats what i have and have been thinking of smacking a 5.0 liter in there.
xxblackxx your big rapids huh..... I havent wheeled up there but id like to. i cant right now because im in the middle of my straight axle, 302, and spring over setup... Pm when ya wanna go
