I just recently bought a 98 Explorer with the 4.0 SOHC engine. I have the ForScan app on my Android phone and also on my laptop. Also bought the BAFX Bluetooth OBD2 scanner.. I'm just becoming familar with it. I got a CEL code today, it is P1151. Can the O2 sensor be check?

Thanks,
Bob

Donalds - can it really be 'tested' or just reports back CEL codes? Also can it be tested on 98 (and my 97s).

ODB2 is pretty limited on my 97 (and I'd expect on 98) compared to later years where tons was added.

In my experience O2 sensors may function within their "normal" range, but may still needing to be replaced. In these cases you will not receive a CEL.

If you've got 100K-120K on your O2 sensors they're ready for replacement. 120K is considered the expected live expectancy on heated O2 sensors. If your sensors aren't reporting accurate info back to you PCM you're engine will not function at its peak efficiency.

Yes it can be tested you won't be looking at obd2
...if you don't want to... you'll be looking at ford data just like the dealer their are a few data pids you can look at basically if the dealership can see the data with forscan you can

If it has an obd2 port you can look with forscan
That's all the modules not just the obd2 data

I suggest looking an their forums to learn more
You need to understand the information your looking at
