Hello, I'm rebuilding a crashed FPIU hybrid and had a caliper off for a while, it fully drained and after manual bleeding I'm getting all of the brake related warnings on dash (service advancetrac, hill assist, service park brake, etc ,etc). ALSO my front right and rear left brakes do not work even though I bled them.

I've seen one video of a guy with a fancy tablet doing a power bleed on a 2021 civilian explorer on youtube and someone in his comment section said they were able to do it on forscan. There is VERY little detail online about how to properly bleed the new explorer and I couldn't find info on the service manual on the foexplorer site

Question, why is the abs bleed option not showing up in forscan? I have the recommended adapter. If that won't ever work, how do I auto bleed the abs, is there a cheap tool I can buy to do it? EDIT: potentially need to use a paid program by FORD (FDRS for 2018+ vehicles) and it is $50 every 2 days for a sub.

Thanks.

SECOND EDIT: I messed up... this is totally possible through forscan. The problem stemmed from me trying to find a compatible adapter. When I used a cheap bluetooth adapter, it only showed about a quarter of the modules and I saved the profile. When using the more advanced adapters, I kept reusing that profile. Finally, I pressed no on using the profile and forscan downloaded the other 75% of the modules and abs autobleed and such was all present including the ability to read and clear crash flags on the RCM and other crucial features.

In the video, was he referring to activating brake maintenance mode to manually bleed the system? PIU may be a little different though because I thought the parking brake was not electronic but cable still.

Parking brake is electronic in FPIU. This was the vid i was referring to

I think I figured out why I can't find it on FORSCAN, turns out ford is making people use FDRS to bleed the brakes on hybrids. Someone in the comments section in this video also stated that even f150s that aren't hybrids use a hybrid master cyl and need this procedure

That is a terrible waste of brake fluid in that video. Why can't we just bleed the brakes normally? Is this gonna carry over to my 22 base also?

Here’s my understanding. If you change a major part like abs module or master cylinder so much fluid will be gone that you need advanced FDRS bleeding to get full functionality back. My Vxdiag adapter is coming today so I will update the post if that works out. From my understanding regular bleeding should work if you aren’t taking calipers off or any brake related modules. Also don’t forget parking brake service mode to disable rear brakes for bleeding.

Update: FDRS worked with the vxdiag adapter in pass through mode with vx manager to power bleed the air out of the abs module. Wasn't working at first because park brake service mode was enabled (you can disable it either through pedal commands or through fdrs menu). There is no need for a power bleeder even though it states you need one. The brake fluid level doesn't go down at all in this process if you already manual bled the calipers from before. I filmed a video and can post it if there is interest.
