Hey I have a quick question. My 95 XLT runs 100% fine untill i go through a water crossing or a large puddle ( about a foot deep or more) After going through the truck just chugs. You can put the pedal to the floor and it will barely accelerate up to around 25-30 and it lugs. I dont really know how to describe the sound other then you can hear the exhaust blowing out each puff of air and it goes put put put put and has no performance. Anything could need replacing considering it has 84,000 miles and A LOT of original parts probably still on it. What do you think it could be? Plugs, Wires, Filters? Totally stock but a K&N filter. After driving more it slowly gets better then about 15 minutes of driving its fine again. What could it be? Thanks

How fast are you going through the water?
How High is the water coming up on the truck?

You may be going to fast it sound like your injesting water. Next time if of course your not going to fast. When it happens check you filter if its wet then you most likely injesting some water, could be the filter housing is loose or installed wrong.
If the filter is dry then it maybe an electric glitch.

hmm, thats a good one... theres not squeaking of the belts or anything? just the performance deteriorations...

Id take a shot in the dark and get the alternator check out maybe... when it gets wet it might be putting out just barely enough to keep your truck going...

but otherwise i really have no clue unless you're getting some splashing water in the intake

Yea there is no squeeking of any belts or anything. I guess ill go through one more time ;) and check to see if the filter is wet if not ill have to take it from there. Someone told me i should replace the plugs and wires because that could be it if they get wet? Thanks for all your help guys. Heres a pic of my truck :p

I bet you are getting water into an harness if the filter is dry. Don't go through water that fast in the future. You will eventually suck up water into the intake and hydrolock(and most likely ruin) your motor.
