Hit here, i've have what appears to be the 00m12 cold idle problem, i'll clean my iac today, but i clean the MAF regularly. Anywys, the thing is, it turned the car off one night, started well that morrning, and we've had -30celcius arond here for a few days, and no problem, then all of a sudden, the next morrning, doesn't want to idle, i thought the gas was frozen, take it to work, it's warm, gets filled up, go to start it at the end of the day, and it won't idle...ahh... could it have started that quixckly.

I would think you should check other things before thinking of the 00M12. Mine when I start it cold sounds like dragging a chain across a tin can, and that's one indicator of the tensioner problem. There have been quite a few threads about different solutions to idling problems, I'd look up some of those.

i was thinking more of the actual idle problems. It started 3 days ago, i finally got ford to do the recall/ONP thing for me.

I've checked all the intake hoses, and tubes, the fitler is clean and fine, and there's the fact that it runs perfectly after about 2 mintures of warming up....hey, it's free, and if they find anyting else...i guess i'll have to get that fixed as well.

This was my reply from another thread, but applies here also:

I also have the cold start/idle problem and yesterday had the OOM12 recall items taken care of. This morning was fairly cold, and the idle problem hasn't seemed to completely disappear, although it seems like it may have gotten a little better.

It just doesn't want to get to that high idle that it used to get to when cold. Instead of idling around 2000 RPM's when dead cold, it was almost dying when it was really cold outside. After the recall repairs yesterday, this morning it was idling around 1200 RPM's. So it's a little better, but there is definitely something still amiss.

(Next I'll try the IAC valve I've heard so much about).

OOM12 can happen overnight...

mine did the also... one day, I go start it and it starts shaking and dying... untill warming up. Some guys might remember days when you had to engage choke manually... the engine ran like you forgot to pull that lever... that's a sure sign that OOM12 might be your problem. I took my truck to the dealer and told them what the problem was... and that it might be OOM12 issue... guy told me that it was not likely... when I picked-up my truck sure enogh... recall has been taken care off and I didn't have to pay a penny... sometimes they'll just try to take you for a ride... you need this and that fixed, blah, blah, blah... don't fall for that stuff... take it to another dealer. Better yet, ask guys around on this board to see which dealers they have used. Some are better, some are worse.

Good luck,

i have another quick question, can the 00m12 though a engine light? I'm of the opinion that it can.

And secondly, what else can cause a sudden cold start problem. I was just at Ford, and they said, they'll do it again, but it seems as if the recall has been done. Is there anything else that can cause a similar problem? it just started overnight.

Yes, failing lower intake manifold o-rings (addressed through ONP 00M12) can cause a CEL. The most likely codes are P0171 & P0174 (fuel trims lean on banks 1 & 2). You might have only one code or both. It depends on how long the leak has existed.
