When my Ford Eplorer 2002 XLT is at 96,000 miles (warranty is 90,000), the transmission gave up. I had the dealer replaced with refub transmission for $3,500 with 3year/36,000m warranty. When after 50,000m run, the transmission showing the jerking problem. Everytime the speed has to shift from first to second gear, the RPM has to go higher up to 5000-6000rpm before making a hard shift that jerks the car, as if someone is pushing us from our back. The BOB BAKER Ford dealer in San Diego was already closed shop when I tried to get their help, Worst, when I called Ford Warranty Division they said they cant help me because the warranty is expired. I would like to know the real cause of the problem and if it can be fixed without replacing the transmission if possible. I could not save the right amount of another $3,500 to replace it. This is our family car and we love to loose it.
