people, I have just done a 4.5k trip with a caravan at 1.8tons plus my truck and I found as the trip got longer the better my girl ran .I found that the engine got smoother and smoother .I was using pulp at 95-98 octane .As I have had trouble blowing the intake gaskets this suprised me because it seemed to decarbon herself . Am I imagening this or is it for real then I came across a thread about pinging and so forth the one that interested me was the contribution by Bob M. where he uses warm water through the inlet to decarbon his engine I wondering has anyone else experienced similar as I have and have done the deed that Bob M has . My girl now has so much grunt that after doing the brown wire mod I can't stop spinning the wheels .Ai'nt that great!

PULP Fuel will clean out you fuel system and to a point you inlet ports and valves.

I am interested in the Hot water thing thou, exactly what did you do?

Do you like pore it into a spray bottle and then set it on mist and just continuously spray it down the intake?

Cheers.

can we get this translated into US terms

Back in the carb days, we used to pour water down the carb at a rate just shy of making the motor die. I am sure you can do it via a vacuum port as you do sea foam. (as long as you do it carefully enough as not to hydrolock)

I believe a caravan is a travel trailer. 4.5 thousand kilometers would be about 2800 miles. PULP is an Australian acronym meaning Premium UnLeaded Petrol, or good old premium fuel. Australia's 95-98 octane would be 90-93 octane here in North America. Sea Foam would be much more effective at cleaning things up.

Everyone on this site seems to rave about seafoam for cleaning IAC, MAF, intake, combustion chambres and electrical contacts. Since it's not available in Canada, does anybody know of a Canuck equivalent cleaner?

The warm water works really well for cleaning combustion chambers.... until you screw up, and as mentioned previously hydrolock the motor and bend a piston rod or blow a head gasket.

Tktrain, is on the money with the translation.

Mate, The way he was doing it he'd fill a 16oz in your lingo of warm water and have someone on the throttle at the same time .He would then take of a line from the back of the upper plenum put a 2foot piece of hose and let her suck it in but being aware not too much .He did this several times and it worked but yes everyone seems to be pushing sea foam but I have heard also that Subaru ,a jappa, use a similar product on their cars every 20k as part of their normal servicing .I'm about to find out just what it is and what it is supposed to do. cheers foxy

sorry about this but the thread if you want it is called
PROBLEMS WITH ENGINE PING/PRE-DETONATION you'll find it in explorer maintenance cheers
