Need to know what to do with this hose nipple. I have no loose/capped hoses that I can find, and my Clymer book isn't giving me a good enough pic of this side of the carb.

If anyone can help, I would appreciate it.

possibly the vaccum line for an auto tranny if you have a stick just plug it. the people at www.ford-trucks.com will be able to help you better

Thanks for the attempt Billy...........you gave more effort than ANYONE else!!! :D

Naw, it is a 3-speed manny w/ od. I found out the port is just a fresh air vent for the choke, it doesn't have to go anywhere, just vent to atmosphere.

Geez, I wish it was something more important..............the truck still runs like a bucket, and I can't figure exactly why. :(

Block it off. If you dont have a cap laying around that size, JB Weld will work fine. :D

What is the rig doing Robb? Symptoms?

i gotta ricer vent filter if you want it ;)

Basically, it sounds like a Model-A when running. :D There is a constant miss throughout rpm range. The timing point where it runs the best, is also the timing point where it won't start (that may just be weak starter, or rusted "thick wire" connections). Actually getting the engine to the point where idle speed and timing is correct, to spec, runs like trash and has no pick-up.

The biggest problem I see with it's setup is that seems to be during Ford's "transitional" period to modern engine management. They added more crap to that carb than they should have ever done (ISC, TPS, etc). It actually does have a "computer" in it, and I think that it isn't doing anything. Under no circumstance can I get the timing to advince. The ISC valve plunger won't even come out far enough to meet the throttle linkage at idle. And I can disconnected various vacuum/electrical elements with no change in engine performance.

It has all the normal new stuff; plugs, wires, cap, rotor, filter, plus a N.O.S. carb. Everything right now is pointing towards a breakdown in the primitive management system. I got a feeling I could grab a computer from the boneyard for near nothing, so that is my next plan of attack.

Go grab a 'puter from the bone yard. I cant remember (its been so long) but does your 300 have Duraspark? In other words, does it have the little lame control box that looks like it should be a computer somewere under the hood? If so, they are like $25 new and can cause all sorts of issues. Id say if you replaced all that you said you replaced in your post, then its a management issue.

Pick up a new flux capacitor. I think your old one is fubared.

I'd also recommend checking out http://fordsix.com . They have a Big Six section and they're pretty carb-savvy.

I know this is an older thread but could someone tell me what the silver bracket is called on top of the carb? I need to know the name to buy one. Thanks
