Well my Exploder should be ready with the axle change from 3.27 to 3.73 to help me tow my camper. The truck is totally stock except for a superchip.
Now here's my question:
Will a catback with 2.25 or 2.5 pipes and a good performance muffler really help or does it just sound better? Also, this in conjunction with a K/N induction kit...

Seems like if you do the numbers of the displacement of the little 4L, it's rpm range ect.. the stock intake and exhaust is more than ample as long as everything else is stock (ie, ported heads, sc, ect..)

A couple muffler shops here in CT actually talked me out of a cat-back exhaust when I first bought the truck saying the same as what I stated above.

I guess it would be nice to have a nicer sound but I don't want to drop that much coin just for sound.

Isn't it a 2" exhaust on there now?

And in conclusion, I am towing a new heavier camper so I definatly am looking for better throttle responce but not to go hog wild on too many mods.

TIA
Kurt

Intake and exhaust will definately help you out, especially using the superchip. Your stock exhaust is either 2" or 2.25". Go a step up: 2.25" or 2.5". You'll notice more power, better throttle response, and maybe better mileage.

You will definately bebefit from a cat back system. I recommend having a custome one made for your reuck.

Good luck......

Gotta agree with a cat back, 2.25" pipe size & a K&N filter. It will help. I wouldnt go bigger than 2.25 unless you dont mind the noise in the cabin area.

Another vote for a custom exhaust setup. Pick a muffler you want and take it to your muffler shop. Have them weld it in and run some pipe. I did this with my dual setup, and it was $250, so yours should be about $200 or less. I noticed an increase in torque and horsepower. My highway mileage also went up 2 mpg with the exhaust and cut air box.
