catalitic converters????

Where exactly are the cats undr my explorer? The pipes come down from the manifold and go into what I thought was the cats, then further down the line there are another set of "catalitic converter looking" things. Which ones are the cats? Sorry if I sound ignorent but I'm no too familiar with exhaust sstems.

On your 5.0 you probably have 2 parallel sets of 2, 4 total.

on my v6, theres two cats first, then the muffler, but for you as alec said, there might be two sets of two. If all 4 look somewhat the same, then there probably them. Course you probably know what the muffler looks like, that will more then likely be near the end.

I thought that they both looked like cats but I didn't know that I had 4 of them. How would I check to see if they were bad? One had a leak but I sealed it up, would that mean it is bad?

The left side of the pic is where they bolt to your exhaust manifolds.. the right is where your cat-back would bolt on.
