I have already put on a flowmaster cat-back (purchased from summitracing.com) and a k&n air filter. I would like to put on a high-flow cat to go along with it, and i swear i remember reading somewhere that flowmaster makes cats to buy, but i don't know where i could buy it online. it doesnt have to be flowaster either, borla or whatever, i just wanted to check prices...

thanks in advance...

OK this is a rotten dirty trick, and you have to be SLY to get away with it, but if you open up the Cat, and run a broomstick and push out the honeycomb inside, it flows MUCH more freely! Trick being, that you hafta go out in the boonies, and find some good old boys to pass your inspection fo you.
Thats my $.02 worth..Happy Explorations

PS..STAY away from my GF, she goes to A&M, you can't miss her, 5'8", blond, model. I would hate to have to hurt a fellow Explorer owner! Dead Link Removed

anyone else know where to purchase a freeflow LEGAL cat?

Mightyhead, I believe that Summit sells a CATCO brand pinch box. Good luck, JJW

Try these guys for a high flow cat, I just sent them an e-mail requesting info about a cat for my '94 Explorer. I'll post an update when I recieve a response from them.

well i was reading some of the other posts on this board and found that someone had gotten a new cat from dynomax. i decided to check it out at www.dynomax.com and it said that to replace a perfectly good cat was illegal...

REALLY? $2500 in fines? is this just another messed up california law?

at least i found a good place to buy a new cat from...

I had my Cat replaced on my Van and I asked him that same question. His Answer was that he cannot remove a good cat and replace it. I drove over to the shop with open exhaust. Just in case I brought my old cat but he didn't need to see it. My old cat was flat. I kinda gets flat when you put the entire weight of a Van on it. I also had him reroute the exhaust to put the cat above a cross member so I don't smack it anymore. BTW, he put on a high flow cat for me and my total cost was <$300 and I am in Arizona

well, i found a place in houston (i am in houston now) that sells dynomax converters, a-1performance.com, so i think i will check them out.

there shouldnt be any problem with borla headers (one day...) a dynomax cat and a flowmaster cat-back, should there be?

i will tell you how it all works out, my explorer has 110,000 miles on it so i might fit into the "your car is too old to have a stock cat on it, it needs to be replaced" category so i might not have to worry about legal mumbo-jumbo.
