a best buy audio shop worker told me that the ford changer cartridge could not be purchased from any place except ford, alittle hard to beleive, since ford works with JBL to get their systems in the cars though, you could probablly get a JBL 6 disc, but I would make sure it works before you buy it

Replacement cartridges are on ebay all the time.

DOH!

how could I miss that?! argh.. ebay is very useful, yo ucan get anything at that place, a few days ago, some guy had his soul for auction lol

Watch out for ebay. All changers are not the same or at least that is what I can gather. Go to http://www.radiosandmore.com and they have them for around $25.00 call the 800 # if you have Q's they help you any way they can.

The changer is a Clarion, or at least it is with the Premium system in '97. I got mine from autotoys.com about 2 years ago. Somewhere in the cd changer cartridge section, you can actually see both the Clarion & the Ford branded magazines, and the Clarion is cheaper in price, not quality. You do need to make sure that you get the right one, though.

yup- they are clarion or aleast the clarion cartridge looks identical and fits..... i have three clarion that I use in my 96 cd changer- and yes- there are a bunch on ebay- under ford explorer
