My original JBL OEM system cd player is giving me problems. I am hearing crackling noises when I play a cd, not with the radio. It started only when the cd had been playing for a while and when the heater was on for a while. Then I noticed that it was happening after being in the car for about 25 minutes with the heater on, not during the summer (Air no longer works). Now it seems to be happening more frequently, and definitely happens about 1/3 of the way through the CD (ie tracks 6+) After about the 35 minutes and soon after the crackling begins, the cd seems to stop, and not register anything on the display. I have to turn off the player, ej the cd (sometimes hard), re-insert the cd and then it will play, but only during the first 10 minutes or so and I just have to stop playing it and listen to the radio. Someone suggested that it may be that the laser is going. I have cleaned the laser, no problems playing the radio, so it has to be something with the cd player. Its the premium sound JBL system with the Subwoofers in the rear compartment. . If I have to replace it, I'd like to replace it with one of the mp3/cd/tuner from Sony, Alpine, etc in the $300 range. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. One more thing if I have to replace it, is there anyplace where I can get a wiring diagram for my original unit? Thanks Again.
