Hey everyone just wondering if there’s a typical fix for the engine code p0402 before I throw money at parts. I’m driving a 97 Sport 2 door with the manual tranny and 4l ohv. So far I’ve seen that I should replace the DPFE sensor, but there’s a few variations of fixes. Was wondering if anyone has had the same issue and what they did to fix? Thanks

Do you have the original metal one on there now? If so might be time to replace it, let us know how you make out.

I will take a look when I get home, I was more so curious as to how often that part actually fixes the issue! I’ll probably clean it up and make sure hoses are clean first if that doesn’t work I’ll order. Thanks

It could be caused by a vacuum leak or too much vacuum to the EGR. Make sure your EGR is working okay before throwing money at it.

Thanks for the help. @rasouth I bought a egr valve and DPFE sensor. I’ll start with checking all hoses, then multi metre for the dpfe. The truck runs fine, it’s more for keeping that annoying CEL off.
