Im trying to change the color on just the top portion of my center console in my sport trac i have tan interior and hey used that grey color and its all scuffed up and im looking to repaint it. do i have to uninstall the whole console or is that a seperate piece. Can you also please tell how to go about taking it apart i tried searching and oculdnt find anything,

well looking at this one

it looks like it just comes right off, with a phillips head,
console 2
it looks like there is a hinge in the back that you must onbolt. Sorry im not that much help on that, but this may help.

im trying to rmove the part that has the cup holders and the little storage spot on it but cant figure how to get it off

Push in on the sides at the front and lift at the same time. The back just pulls up. It's not the easiest thing to get off.

Center Console and Other Interior Redo 2002 Sport Trac

First, I am a newbie to the site so I appreciate any feedback in advance.

I am working on cleaning up the interior of my 2002 sport trac. The picture and info from ncranchero was very helpful AND I was was able to actually remove the center console successfully.

Can someone tell me how to remove the door panel with the grab bar handles you use to close the door? They all need to be painted as they finish is wearing off. It looks like you may have to remove the cover that includes the power window and other controllers first. I am not sure if the panel that includes the handles is clipped in and I just need to carefully pull.

Last, I need to paint the bezel that goes around the radio. It looks like you need to remove a couple of screws but is there anything else I would need to know so I don't damage the piece.


Any available manual that shows how to remove the

The part you want to paint of center console just pops out, just pull up on the cup holders. The radio bezel comes off by removing the 2 screws above the HVAC controls. Just pull it out after you remove the screws.

Painting radio Bezel and center counsel pieces.

Hi;
Hope this isn't hijacking this thread.
I am redoing my 98 xlt, and am looking for ideas and pics about painting the radio bezel and possibly the 2 center counsel pieces. My interior is grey, and I am changing over the dated green lighting to blue, to match new audio gear.
Any thoughts and help is appreciated.

I removed the center console part just yesterday. I was afraid there were hidden screws or something but turns out it just pops out as stated previously. Really helps to make it easier to clean.

HI ALL I FINALLY HAVE MY 2001 SPORT TRAC BUT I NEED SOME HELP OR SUGGESTIONS PLEASE MY CENTER CONSOLE IS MISSING THE ARM REST AND FOR THE LIFE OF ME I CAN NOT LOCATE ONE ANY WHERE. I HAVE TRIED E-BAY JUNK YARD’S BODY SHOP’S ETC NO LUCK.

I CALLED A DEALER AND I WAS TOLD THAT I HAVE TO BUY BOTH PIECES AT $ 250.00 I ASKED IF I CAN ONLY BUY THE ARMREST/TOP AND WAS TOLD NO WAY THE COLOR IS TAN I THINK THAT WHAT IT IS CALLED ANY SUGGESTION ON WERE I CAN GET ONE? THANKS’ IN ADVANCE.
