Changed the bulbs in my cluster, now my gear selector doesnt work?

I'm confused now- was it working before the cluster came out or not?

The other end of the cable goes down to the adjuster behind the steel kick plate by your knees. The cable doesn't attach to the handle itself...

Yes. It was working prior to me even touching this thing.

I pulled the cluster, and pulled the little box out by releasing the two tabs. While the cluster was out, I was able to shift through the gears and the indidicator still worked (with no cluster attached)

I put everything back together carefully, and it doesn't work now :(

Well, all it can be is a broken tab in the indicator where the string hooks to it, a broken string, a broken clip where the string hooks to the adjuster, or a broken arm/junction where the handle extension/lever hooks to the adjuster and string... Have to pull the front kick panel and steel plate off to look at that.

By the work you did, I really think it's something bound up or unhooked in the indicator though, I just don't see any of those other things happening... :dunno:

Did you ever remove the string or anything form the indicator, or just pop loose and lay aside with everything still hooked up?

Can you just take a picture? Even just taking it out, and putting it back in can make the line come out of the groove it's supposed to be in, even if you think it looks right.

Ill probably just snap a pic next time I work on it. Everything is still attached, the white clip is in, string/cable is still on the groove.
