- 2003 Ranger 4.0L FX4
I bought a 2003 Ranger in March, and changed its fuel filter for the first time today. The filter that I took off was a Motorcraft part # FG1061. The Motorcraft filter that I bought from Rock Auto was part # FG1071, which as I referenced from Ford's part website, should be an identical filter to the FG1061 but with the mounting bracket included. While the new filter fit everything perfectly and effortlessly, it is maybe only 2/3 the size of the old filter. I would like to relax since I got the part #'s off of Ford's site, but since I'm not too familiar with filters, I just want to verify that for whatever reason, my fuel pump isn't going to overwork itself because of potentially less flow.
If you want to look up the info for yourself, it's a 2003 4.0L 4x4 Supercab.
