I just thought I would share my good story about better gas milage. I recently changed all the fluids (Differentials, engine), and flushed and changed the coolant. I put synthetics back in the engine and Differentials. Before I was getting about 15mpg max with 100,000 miles on the truck. Now after I changed the oils to synthetic and inflated my tires to 40 psi, I am getting at least 17mpg with normal driving. The ride is a bit stiff with the tires inflated to 40psi, but is ok.

I was really surprised when I hit 280 miles, in all city driving, the other day on 16 gallons.

Have you taken the tire wear into account also? Centers are going to wear out extremely quickly being inflated that high.

I run 40 psig in mine all the time and never have had a wear problem.

I ran 35psi in my ATs and it wore the center out way before the outside. Must have just been the tire.

That's fine now. I bought the truck in June 2004 and the guy had just put brand new tires on it. The thing is though, they were some cheap tires and I wanted to replace them. But I can't convince myself to replace tires with this much tread on them right now.

The tires have a vibration at highway speeds and I have taken them in multiple times to be balanced. When I first got the truck I took it in to get them balanced and the guy told me that they were out of round and that he could only balance them so much to off-set the out of round tires. So I am just waiting for them to wear to a point so that I can convince myself to replace them.

I think the guy that sold it to me just put the cheapest tires he could find on there before he sold it. I am a firm advocate that you get what you pay for when it comes to tires.

before i got my 31's my michlins were all inflated to 40psi, only problem i had was the front tire wear cause i had not had my camber fixed from my TT
