I'm about to do my rear disc brakes on my 97, and purchased two kinds of rotors. Which would be best to use?

1) Raybestos (from Pep Boys) at $57 each. 2 year warranty.

2) Cheapie Brand (from autozone) at $32 each. 3 month warranty.

I'm using Performance Friction pads and Raybestos e-brake shoes.

Thanks,
Aaron

I'd personally go with the better ones, brakes really arent something you want to mess with. But its up to you, rear brakes arent as important as front brakes.

Personally, I wouldn't run Performance Friction pads with the cheap rotors. They are excellent pads (I run them) but they will wear on a cheap rotor, especially on a heavy Explorer. Of course, it's the rears so it's not quite as critical.

Thanks for the advice... As usual, when it comes to the truck I choose the more expensive part, so the Raybestos rotors are sitting on the axle right now. Had a hell of a time getting the old ones off, ended up using a big crowbar and a BFH. On the driver's side, there was zero friction material on the e-brake shoes, and on the passenger side it was all there, due to a frozen actuating lever.

Hey, that's good old Ford engineering working for you baby.
Just think how much you saved by not having to replace that passenger side shoe.;) :D
