I took it to autozone and they pulled out this code 335 EGR sensor voltage out of range So what is the next step ? is it pointing to O2 sensor or DPFE?

Thanks for your time

According to the EEC-IV article in Mitchell circuit test DL step 8:
8) Code 335: Verify KOER Codes
Code 335 indicates DPFE sensor is out of self-test range (2.
6-4.2 volts) and may be faulty. DPFE system can detect lack of
pressure in exhaust system. A garage exhaust ventilation system,
installed during KOEO SELF-TEST, may cause DPFE sensor to generate
Code 335. Remove exhaust ventilation system. Repeat KOEO SELF-TEST.
Service codes as necessary. If no codes are present during KOEO SELF-TEST,
complete QUICK TEST. If Code 335 is present during KOEO SELF-TEST,
go to next step.
9) Check DPFE Sensor Pressure Input Hose
Remove pressure feed tube from DPFE sensor. Inspect tube,
including DPFE inlet, for blockage. Repair if necessary, and repeat
QUICK TEST. If no blockage is found, go to next step.
10) Measure VREF Circuit Voltage
With ignition off, disconnect DPFE sensor wiring harness
connector. Turn ignition on. Measure voltage between VREF and SIG RTN
terminals at DPFE sensor wiring harness connector. If voltage is 4-6
volts, replace DPFE sensor and repeat QUICK TEST. If reading is not 4-
6 volts, go to CIRCUIT TEST C.

i had the same code along with some others related to the egr flow. my guess is that the sensor is bad. very common problem. i changed my egr valve first only to find it wasnt the problem. from all the threads i've read the sensor is the problem 95% of the time.

ok maybe not 95% of the time but you get the idea. if it were me i would go with the sensor, but theres ways to check the sensor first before you go out and spend the money. use this sites search function and you'll find the info you need. it helped me a ton.

I killed the check engine light, crazy.

Yes call me crazy. but since I didn't have any problem with fuel consumption I removed the instrument panel -to replace 2 dead bulbs and at that time I just removed check engine bulb. If in future fuel usage increased I know I have to change DPFE.:D

i have had the CEL on for 4-5 weeks now with that EGR code and just yesterday when it started to snow and got really cold my gas milage dropped to 14.5 hwy(usually 19). i just pulled that DPFE sensor and it was caked up with crap....i have it on my table with all the rivots drilled out and in two pieces. im going to try to clean it and put it back in. will update after i clean, also im going to take some pictures too!

I had the same code and it was the DPFE. Seems to be a fairly common problem.

well ended up cleaning after put it back on the truck. it worked for about 2weeks then the CEL came back on. i went out and bought new one and MPG went back up to 19 (gain of 5mpg) and CEL went off.

i guess even though i cleaned the sensor; the curcuit or the sensor that read the pressure was in-repairable/cleanable.

what is and where is the DPFE? im getting the same code (but im pretty sure its due to my broken in half EGR valve), but would still like to know what it is, and how to clean it. thanks.
