Hello all,

I just bought my new/used 2001 explorer and when I got home, the check engine light comes on. When I am stopped at lights the gas meter drops to zero, but the car still runs. Then, when I get up to speed the gas meter climbs to what I assume is the amount of gas is in the tank. Any ideas on what is happening and what I can do to fix it?? Never had a ford before and do not know much about fords at all.

uh....well I have to say I am a real idiot when it comes to this sort of thing. Where can I get such a thing? Or where can I get it scanned? I am sorry, please excuse my ignorance :(

Take it to any Autozone or O'Reilly and have them run a scan for you. they should be able to tell you what error codes come up and what they mean/

Thanks for responding :) and thanks for your answer!!

Just so you know there was a tsb on the gauge. On my 03 for not showing proper amount of fuel. I had mine changed 3L2Z-9280-AA.
