check engine light and o2 sensor

I got a check engine light a week ago and its on everytime i start the car. From reading the posts on this board i founf out it was an o2 sensor. Is this a big deal fi i let it go another 2 weeks before I get get it to the dealership i got it from or should i spend the money to get it done asap.

My check engine light has been on for seven months now. It came on the day after I bought the vehicle so I took it back to the dealer and they replaced the O2 sensor after the catalytic converter. Two days later the CEL came on again and I took the explo to another dealer. They told me I needed a catalytic converter. Do you know how much the dealer charges for a cat? I took the truck to Meineke and the techs there looked at the catalytic converters and told me they were fine. So my CEL has been on ever since. I think I will try to replace the other two O2 sensors before the cat to see if that takes care of my problem. The engine has had a tune up and it runs great and gets good gas mileage so I am in no hurry.

I'd look at the o2 senors first. Your cat convertor is gonna run up to 1k if I remember right.

As for my problem I was reading back posts and I'm hoping its not the o2 sensors since i just bought it 2 weeks ago and i told them to replace them all. I didn't have the gas cap on all the way and it the check engine light came on a few days later after I filled up. So i'm thinking it wasn't on tight enough. I'm gonna unplug my battery and let the computer reset itself and hope that was the problem. If not I'm gonna bring it back the dealer and force them to fix it.
