First off let me say this is a very usefull site and i read alot of threads but i have noticed that your only presented with negative input.Hardly ever do you see some one say just hit 100,000 miles no trouble.Sure some explorers have problems either from user abuse or product failure but you also have to take in the fact that ford sold a butt load of these trucks and i would bet that after 100,000 miles any other brand starts having a little trouble. My sister in law bought a honda accord new always had it serviced by honda and at 98,000 had to have ac pump changed at next service tranny started slipping at 105,000 it was toast. After getting tranny fixed she traded it for a KIA that was a huge mistake she is at dealer every month or two to get a recall fixed or to get it fixed JUNK!.i bought a used 2005 explorer with 90,000 just flipped 103,000 my best freind is the service manager at my local ford dealer and told me that the best thing for the tranny is a fluid filter change and said DO NOT DO A FULL FLUSH AFTER 100,000 they do a full flush at 50,000 and fluid and filter therafter so far so good in my x.love it and i wish you a good day.

Probably if you had an Explorer that went 100,000 miles without any problems you might not even think of joining a forum like this. I would think that most folks join after they have a problem and want advice. I have been on a Torino forum for years and frequent it even after my restoration was complete because I enjoy helping others solve problems or supply info and pictures.

Welcome to the forum.

Car Forums drag out the worst experiences in the cars that they are about. I've never joined a car forum, (except for stangnet when I had the mustang) to brag on my car. Normally I at least have a question about doing some maintenance, if not I have a problem I'm inquiring about. I will have to say, after ironing out a few minor issues with the mountaineer, I'm so far impressed with it. Yeah, now the trans may go tomorrow, but so far so good. I've got over 25,000 miles to go to hit the 100,000 mile mark, and it's an '02, so I'd call that low mileage for an 11 or 12 year old vehicle. I put less than 7k on one myself in a year, so it's got a good 3-4 years till I get to the 100,000 mile mark. Maybe by then I'll be able to afford a newer one.

OR

Sorry, not trying to bust your balls here. But if you want a rant to be read and understood and have people see your point of view clearly, it helps to take the time to make it legible and easy to read.

/rant.

Point made. Your lack of attention to detail makes you appear lazy, sloppy and careless and we know you wouldn't leave out important details or skip procedural steps when working on your car.
