My original plan-of-attack was to fix a front cover oil leak, then replace the timing chain along the way. As I have done many times before, I also opted to eliminate the OEM fan and install an electric. As I was cleaning up my mess and rounding up the OEM discarded fan, I immediately noticed serious issues with it. The following pics are self explanatory - A close inspection revealed that cracks were evident between ALL the blades, some worse than others.

Looks like my old one......it appears they crack for no reason

I'll have to check mine. With 204,x.. miles on it, its probably cracked too. I hope not because I cant afford to replace it right now.

Thanks for the suggestion putt.

Mine has had cracks in it for many years. Anyone ever have a fan explode?

Mine has some minor cracks, but to be honest, the van has more pressing issues at this point (power steering for one thing).
