Ok an Explorer is an Explorer, its a sport utility vehicle.
It is barely Utility with the IFS on older ones and now IFS AND IRS on 2002's and it is barely sport because it doesnt have the best suspension and no aftermarket upgrades(body kits, etc)

Chevy has a Blazer(totally an onroad SUV(the new ones)) and it has a Trail Blazer which isn't the most trail capable SUV on the road but atleast Chevy is giving buyers an option of onroad or offroad.

So why cant Ford make Explorers more onroad(because 80-90% of them are groccery getters, so they should get better suspension and less roll over contorversy, and then have an offroad version like the FX4(i think that's it) that can get a solid front axle, more power, 31s, bit of a lift, locked rear, and a couple lights or something, and maybe even GPS or the digital maps that Acura MDXs have. Make everyone happy, streeters or Offroaders.

An FX4 X would be nice because of a warranty but whether they made an off road package or not I would like to see an X model that is more easily upgradeable for offroad, aside from the first generation. (never happen)

(Larger wheel wells, live axle with coils all the way around, SOA, high rear shock mounts etc.) Aftermarket products are usually better that factory anyway. But, at least my '99 is challenging which makes serious offroad mods a novelty of sorts - and it seems more stuff is becoming available everyday.:D
