not working. I checked the fuse and it looked fine, so I got an OEM socket on the way off of ebay. My question is how do I remove the console in order to get to the socket to put the new one in or do I even need to remove the console? I know some cigarette lighter sockets will just pop out.

Well, I figured out it just pops out, but it turned out that wasnt the problem. I still can't figure why it's not working.

If your fuses are good, its possible that it shorted out somewhere, our 96 explorer the accessory hasn't worked since i had something plugged in that went up in smoke, my fuses are good so I figure its shorted somewhere, did you have something plugged in when it quit working? Or did you have anything plugged in that could have been trying to pull too much power through it?

We bought it used and it hasnt worked since we bought it.

you could take a test light to the socket where the fuse should be for that plug and if the light lights up then you know its something in the wiring after the fuse, if it don't light up then you know its something before the fuse.
