My CKP wire was so tight over the thermostat housing I was replacing I had to cut it to get it out. Couldn't see where it was going but figured it was going to the sensor.
Unfortunately it wasn't until after I cut it did I see all the shielding and open ground wire.
If I solder and heat shrink am I ok without the shielding and do I need to try and splice the ground too? The shielding helps going through the harness but don't see anything else that would give interference the rest of the way down. Thanks Anyone

As far as I know there's nothing special regarding the 2 wires that go to the crank position sender. If the wires were too tight there should be no reason you can't add piece(s) of similar gauge wire to lengthen them. I don't know that there's really a positive and ground wire (as they're both black) but I'd keep the polarity the same just to avoid any possible problem. Solder and heat shrinking the wires should produce the best repair. If you think it's necessary you can buy heat shrink/shielding in a roll, just make sure you get a diameter large enough to fit over the heat shrink you use to cover the splices.
