'97 Explorer (4.0 V6)
Hi, I'm in the UK and have had a right hand drive '97 4.0 V6 Explorer for about 6 months. I have an annoying problem in that there is a clatter / rattle while I am accelerating and it will disappear if I take my foot off the accelerator pedal. When I had a tyre changed recently I asked the mechanic but without really looking at it he said it was probable the baffles in the exhaust. Any ideas? Many thanks.

there are many possibilites.
Where underneath is it comming from ? under the drivers compartment ? or up by the engine ?

Check for loose exhast system parts. When cold............you could crawl under and grab ahold of the pipes and cat and give it a shake..........while there look at the shok mounts and sway bar mounts and bushings.

Aloha, Mark

Mine does that. the heat shield on the primary car is kinda bent up, so when i accelarate it vibrates, letting off the gas it goes away. I know this becuase i had part of my side floor removed, so i had finally figured out what it was.
