My '04 Ex clunks when making a tight slow turn. Is this the same thing I saw in another post about the 4 wheel drive engages because it thinks the wheels are slipping? Just curious and is there a fix for it?

Mine was doing something similar, as well as binding at low speed turns. I had the transfer case flushed and filled and issue has totally stopped for me.

Is it possible there is something binding in the suspension due to slop from worn out bushings and the clunk is just something springing loose? Just curious if anyone has any other ideas beside something related to something other than transmission or transfer case.

if its a sharp turn, its a bad rear differential ring + pinion gear, your probably looking at a rebuild here. my dads 03 4.0 did this.

What ballpark cost for rebuild are we talking about. I realize that can vary across the country. I just need an idea.

well, when my dads died out it was just about 900 bucks, but feel free to shop around. and make sure you get a professional oppinion about whats goin on with your truck before you go off the deep end.
