Well, I suppose I was relieved to discover that I only lost the clutch. But since I needed to get a new slave cylinder this works out. At least it's not the tranny as I originally feared.
Ford want's $80 for a replacement SC (Which I paid the last couple of times) that will fail in another year or two. Does anyone make a metal replacement for the OHV/5spd?
I picked up a Raybestos replacement (same part number as the ford part) at Vic Hubbards for about $60 and it looks to be better sealed than the OEM with additional attention to the part of the cylider that the ford failed at. There's a second seal held in with a steel ring that's machine-crimped on to the body of the SC. There's also a big blue spring guide or something made of ridid plastic. But no rubber boot. (Boot isn't transferrable to the Raybestos due to the blue spring guide occupying that slot in the bearing cap)
Does anyone have any experience with this product?
On to my main problem. Backlash mechanisim shattered and dug into the flywheel, friction material is down to 1/16th. Flywheel has hardened hotspots and spiderweb cracks through the surface. Short version's I need a new clutch and flywheel, preferably something heefy. Any reccomendations? I'm looking into a centerforce 'dual-friction' at the moment. Is this one decent? Is there a better one I should look for?
Thanks in advnce ^__^
