I posted this over in the Sport Trac forum, but thought I would try here too.

I just replaced my clutch, pressure plate, release bearing and slave cylinder. Mechanic said everything is good to go, but on the way home I lost pressure in the clutch to the point that I could not shift gears. I called the mechanic and he was already gone, I tried his cell and got him. He told me to put the clutch a couple of time to see if I had any, I did but noticed it was losing pressure again. Any ideas (master cylinder)? Please help, right now this is my only ride. FYI the truck is a 03 XLS 2WD with 160,000 miles on it.

Welcome to the site and forums. Where in NC are you from?

Is there any pressure/resistance on the pedal when you depress it? New parts fail too, mechanics fail more often. Really hard to say without being there. Could be a bad slave cylinder, clutch plate or the master cylinder you mentioned. I would suspect the slave cylinder or it's attachment to the hydraulic line.

BTW, I realize you're a newb here but please don't make duplicate posts.

I am in Lexington, NC. I was not sure where to put this question; I will try and not double post again. I agree with parts failing and mechanics. With that I am looking at parts that were not replaced to begin with. I have enough clutch to start the truck, but can not get it to shift gears. If i pump it for about 5 mins it builds up pressure and then works. If I let the truck sit for about 25 mins it seems to lose pressure again.

Is the fluid in the Master Cylinder dropping?

Mmmmm, love that Speedy's BBQ !!

I can not tell that it has dropped. I do know the other day when it first happened, that we had to fill it up and when trying to bleed it, the fluid would go down but then come right back up into the resevoir.

Speedy's is ok, I tend to favor TarHeel Q when I eat it.

Well if you're not still adding fluid then it has air in the lines or the master cylinder is by-passing.

I'll check out TarHeel Q. Bridges BBQ on 74 in Shelby is my all-time favorite!

I have went ahead and got a new clutch master. If my shop does not need it I can always take it back. I did notice that when driving to the shop the clutch petal at the master was making a squeaking noise. I have not noticed this until this morning when heading to the shop. I am thinking that it is the master, I should find out soon.

I got the truck back and clutch works poerfectly. Mechanic said master cylinder had broke seal inside and it would not hold pressure. So thanks for the help.
