Im new to this forum. have a 89 b2 with issues. i love this truck, and have a few odd problems please help!!!
last week I was driving came to stop at a light went to acelerate and had to rev it up 3000 rpm to get it to move at all. I think it might be my clutch, never had a problem shifting clutch seemed to be perfect. I have also noticed
that the 2.9 in it has developed a nasty vave tick that comes and goes since I did an oil change (3 weeks ago) I used 5w30 does it need a heavyer oil?

I think that my problem is probably my rear seal. and with that valve tick i think its the begining of the end of that 2.9. swap time. but what eng? 4.0 or 5.0 could anyone give me there opinion on wich way to go, and reasons?

well the 4.0 is basically a bolt in swap with just a few wiring differences. It will bolt to your tranny and transfer case with no problems. The 5.0 is going to be a complete change of motor mounts, special oil pan, different trans, different transfer case, and eventually axles too.It is a question of how much work you want to do to acheive it.There are also clearance problems with the heater box and exhaust manifolds with the 5.0 swap.It can be done but it is labor intense. The power will be worth it if you decide to do it though.

the 4.0 OHV may have less power then the 5.0, but that thing runs forever if properly maintained .Actually they are both really great engines!! To save some headaches with the swap I would say go with the 4.0 keep your tranny and put a good clutch in the truck, something like a centerforce dual friction. Make sure you check the seals on the tranny and replace anything that is leaking while your in there.

is there an aftermarket harness that would make it plug and play?(4.0)
