I've been having a problem with my explorer stalling out when accelerating from a stop. After the engine stalls, I find a code 14 - PIP Circuit Failure, code 51 - ECT or IAT reads -40 or circuit open, and code 54 - IAT circuit open stored in the computer.

What is a PIP Circuit failure. I can reason out the ECT (Engine Coolant Temperature) and IAT (Intake Air Temperature). The ECT & IAT Sensors are new, so I'm tracing the wiring looking for breaks.

Please help. This stalling problem is becoming more frequent.

Check out the ECT, IAT for open circut first. Could be something like a loose connector or bad ground. The PIP is profile ignition pickup IIRC.

I glanced over the circuit test for a continuous memory code 212 (PIP failure) on a '95 explorer. It appears to have an extensive test procedure to test the operation of the IDM. If you can find the same circuit test for your '91 (The one for a '95 that's available in the "gtest.pdf" file I've referenced before might be adequate), you should get a fairly extensive test procedure so you can hopefully figure out what's wrong.
Whenever I see someone get a temperature code from the ECT and/or IAT, I always ask if the self-test was performed with the engine at operating temperature. A cold engine will almost always set those codes (as KOEO hard faults). If they are continuous memory codes, I would suspect a short to Vref which is also mentioned in the circuit test for the PIP failure.
