Hi Mick,
I got mine off ebay. Look for 'CAN OBD11 U581'.
It has Live Data which shows engine rpm and voltages of various components as they are working. Only used mine once a while back, But I think it gives the status of the hego sensors, maf, and throttle position as well. I paid £60 I think.

Got mine off ebay too, ELM 327 USB for £26.

Connects to my laptop and give all the usual real time data on the screen. The ELM is just an interface so must have the computer attached to see any data.
Stand alone units seem to be a bit dearer than the interfaces but they all do the much the same thing.

Check to make sure that the one you get is compatible with the Ex

I got the U381 version. Made by memoscan or something . Paid $70 (can$) with shipping to Canada. The U581 is for newer vehicles with the CAN-bus technology (controlled area network). Since my newest vehicle is my ranger which is an 03, I don't need CAN-bus, I got the older model at half the price. First time I needed it in the Corolla it paid for itself. Told me lean condition on bank one, googled it, told me it was the MAF, took MAF out, it was covered in oil. Cleaned it, turned the check engine light off and it never came back.

Any garage wants a hour of labour just to scan, I scanned and fixed for less than one hour labor.

I recommend the memoscan units.

It also has live data like the other user said Very nice. Gives timing degrees, fuel mixture, MAF readings, throttle position reading, vehicle speed, RPMs and more. It is even upgradable over the net.

Only thing I have to say that is bad about it is you need to push the buttons hard, but it works like a charm. I keep mine under my seat.
