Computer Software update

i have a friend who's grandfather is a GM specialist. He updated the software in his truck and now it gets much more HP and is MORE fuel efficient. I was wondering if this was possible on the explorer?
I haven't really had time to look at the computer, but it might be fun to modify it, maybe add a readout for error codes?

Just a thought, anybody have any ideas on modifying the software?

there is a whole forum on the computer back onthe forums page go down to under the hood and you'll see it. I think it has instructions on software updates.

Don't remeber if they work for first gens though.
