Getting ahead of myself here since the mileage phase (2) is not complete yet... but I am excited about Phase 3.

Phase 3 is the evaluation of horsepower and torque of the various computer tunes on a dynamometer as well as actually dyno tuning my truck.

There are dyno facilities in my local area ( in Tampa, St Pete, and Ft Myers, FL ); but I decided to work with Doug Studdard of BamaChips ( http://www.bamachips.com/ ) on the dyno evaluation of the tunes and subsequent dyno tuning on my Explorer based on several factors (1) his keen interest in the project (2) his tireless help, suggestions and consultation (3) the fact that he is a legend in 4.0 tuning and (4) the fact that his a good guy and truly cares about his customers.

We also plan to evaluate the effect of the TB spacer, different intakes, different MAFs and other variables.

Arrangements for the trip to Alabama will be finalized soon.

Just let me know when your coming up as I'll need a week or two notice. I'm flying out to Cali. some time in March to do some Dyno tuning for the X-charger for Explorer Express and I also have the V6 Ford Challenge on March 19th. We'll work something out for when you come this way.

I have a Street Smart Design's style intake for a 4.0 and also this goes out to anyone else that has a product designed for a SOHC 4.0 that hasn't been mentioned. That is if it is a simple install, if you want us to check it out on the dyno then contact me and send it my way and we'll do a pull with it and then I'll be happy to return it. Now don't try to send headers and it must be something easily installed and removed.

Of course if this is also ok with Al, but he really has a pretty large list and about the only mod I can think of that he hasn't covered would be another Tornado dyno run using his truck.

thanks, Doug
